I feel like the fall season is officially kicking off. Not just because it’s now officially Autumn, but because today I’m sharing my Fall Home Tour!
My thanks to Melissa from Daisy Mae Belle and Sonya from At Home with the Barkers for putting together this amazing tour. Twenty bloggers are sharing their homes all week, and trust me, I am in great company. You will LOVE all of the fall inspiration. A full line-up of the participating blogs is at the end of this post.

This year, I’m keeping things fairly simple and rustic.
I’m still all about using fall colors in my decorating, even though I do love the look of the neutrals I see everywhere. Sometimes I start out thinking I’ll go more neutral but once I get going I can’t help but start throwing color in to the mix!
For example, here’s my foyer table. I found some branches of cotton at the grocery store and then added my painted pumpkin and my brown owl candle. It just didn’t look complete to me until I threw in the orange, brown and green garland. Now it feels more like me!
Just that little punch of color makes me feel better!
By the way, have you ever looked at real cotton branches up close? It’s so neat the way the little pods pop open to produce that fluffy white cotton!
Mother nature sure is a wonder.
I love decorating with the real thing whenever I can, but I’m not above using faux. In fact, it’s almost essential here in the South when you start decorating in September. Many stores aren’t even carrying pumpkins and gourds right now and our leaves aren’t turning yet. That’s why I made these faux fall branches last year. I pulled them out again and put them in a different vase. I love that pop of orange next to my painted white pumpkin.
Oh, and by the way, look how the big feathers we collected at the ranch this summer fit right in.
Keeping with my simple mantra, my mantel decor couldn’t be easier. I just added a faux berry garland I already had and a couple of small gourds/pumpkins. Everything else remained pretty much the same as it looked all summer.
I’ll eventually trade out the white hydrangeas for some fall foliage. The weather is still pretty hot here and flowers are still blooming, so I’m not totally ready to take them down.
For now, I’m happy with my little touches here and there. It’s just enough to give me that fall feeling.
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I just finished a kitchen remodel this summer. I was excited to see how my seasonal decorations would look in this room with the new, brighter look.
I thought about going a little crazier in here than just the island center piece and a few odds and ends, but simplicity and “easy” won out. Maybe next year I’ll add some little berry garlands to the light fixtures. Who knows?!
I love the look of these gorgeous real mums in the galvanized bucket next to the gourds with the great stems.
I found these adorable little real pumpkins at the grocery store and couldn’t resist.
I love how they look next to my new chalkboard I made from an old cabinet door.
In the breakfast nook I added a few more small touches. A pitcher with fall berries and a small pumpkin…or is it a gourd?!
I realized as I was shooting these pictures that I haven’t posted this space since we re-did the kitchen. The only things we have changed here are the wall color and the chandelier. I am in love with my new light fixture! Those burlap shades are my favorite!
In case you are wondering…my table and chairs are due for a makeover. I am hoping to get it done before Thanksgiving but we’ll just have to see how it goes.
I don’t think I’ve shown you both of my cow giclee’s either. You saw one of them when I revealed the kitchen, but I bought them both at the same time. I ended up moving them both to the breakfast nook because they just seemed to belong there!
Finally, I’m going to give you a very small sneak peek of my dining room…
I will be sharing the tablescape, the center piece and the whole room with you later this week. And, I’m finishing up my front porch decorations so be looking for that post coming up too!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Don’t forget to visit the other bloggers on this tour. Grab a cup of tea or coffee and settle in, it’s going to be fun!

I love your new light fixture over your table! I have been looking for a new light, may I ask where you bought it? Love your home!
The light fixture is from Pottery Barn. The shades and the fixture are sold separately but both are at PB. Good luck and thanks for your comment!
Beautifully done and I love that kitchen shot.
what a happy beautiful place to be. I have always wanted to get some cotton and use it, Is it like a cotton ball? I hope the weather gets a bit cooler , what maybe like 89.9 so you can truly feel fall!
Yes, the cotton is like a cotton ball…they’re really cool! The weather is finally a little cooler here and I am loving it!
Happy Fall to you, Laura! Thanks for stopping by and saying “hi”!

Where did the pillows with the pictorial scenes on you couch come from? My couch is the same material/color and i would like to find some. Beautiful home!
I made the pillows using a fabric called “Bosporus” by Covington. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby but Calico Corners has it and so does Online Fabric Store. Here’s a link: http://www.onlinefabricstore.net/covington-bosporus-antique-red-fabric-.htm
oops…hit “return” too soon!
Thank you for your kind comments and good luck getting pillows for your couch!
Sitting here with the cool air blowing through my window and looking at your beautiful house.
Love all the little berry garlands and things you added to make it feel fallish. Your white pumpkins are pretty too. Did you paint those? There’s so much to love…the little cow glicees are perfect for your decor. I love your blues mixed with all the colors.
Have I ever mentioned that you and I have the same pillows on the couch? I don’t have ticking but do have bosporus and the PB pillows.
Thanks, Stacey! You’re the sweetest!
I had forgotten that you have bosporous too — great minds think alike!
Have a great day — hope you’re enjoying this glorious weather!
Your kitchen is just beautiful. Thank you for the tour. Can’t wait to see your dining room. The burlap shades and cows in the breakfast nook are delightful!
Your home looks beautiful Julie! I was checking out your beautiful new kitchen! Everything looks inviting and cozy!
This is my first visit to your Blog via the Fall Tour! I am in love with your house! I am a “blue”person and I love the blue touches throughout your home and how you combined the Fall colors with blue! Thank you allowing me to visit. ( hope it was ok but I sat down for my visit with a cup of coffee– not tea! Please don’t tell my NC sister in law!)
Thank you for your sweet comment! So glad you stopped by and I hope you’ll come back again! (It’s okay, I’m a tea drinker too!)
Looks SO good, Julie. The colours are lovely.
