I’m a little embarrassed to admit it but, when I showed you my holiday home tour last week, it wasn’t completely done.
I still had a few tweaks and finishing touches to make when I got hit by a stomach bug which had me down for a couple of days. By the time I was back on my feet — sort of — I didn’t have time to get it all done in time for the All Things Home Holiday Home Tour.
I decided not to freak out and, perfect or not, I was showing my home. And, I knew I was going to be participating in the 12 Days of Christmas Tours so I thought it would be the perfect time to show you some of my finishing touches.
I’m the last stop on the final day of the tour, but don’t worry if you’ve missed it — I will have the complete list with links at the bottom of my post. You will see home tours, projects, recipes — all kinds of holiday goodness and creativity! I am totally wowed by the company I’m in and you will LOVE all of the beautiful homes and projects!

Today, I’m going to show you my Christmas tablescape in my dining room.
I am really loving how it looks this year.
It feels all rustic and cabin-like to me.
Most of my decorations I already had and I just added some fresh greens and some new chargers under my plates (an early Christmas present to myself) to freshen things up.
I have a combination of fresh and faux greens in the room.
The fresh evergreens are cuttings from our Leland Cypress trees. I love how they look in the chandelier.
Every year I look forward to setting my Christmas table.
It means that I get to take out my Spode Christmas Tree dishes.
I collected these instead of registering for china when I was engaged.
At the time I thought it was a smart move since most people only use their china at Christmas.
I do love it, but sometimes I wish I had fine china, too (I admit, I have a weakness for dishes of all kinds.)
Last year I bought myself some inexpensive, plain white dishes that I dress up and down for other occasions.
But, I digress…
Several years ago there was a Fitz & Floyd outlet nearby and I began collecting a few pieces to display each year.
It’s always fun to take them out see them at Christmas-time.
I also adore candles — any time of year, really. But, there is just something about eating to candle light that feels extra special and cozy, don’t you think?
I already mentioned this in my home tour, but in case you’re new here I’ll tell it again:
This birch tree centerpiece was made by my husband and me. The logs came from my grandparents house and I wanted to make something special with them.
I think of my grandparents and their house on the lake every time I look at this piece.
So, nothing too fancy here, just a few simple rustic touches in traditional red and green – my favorite colors at Christmas.
I’ll be showing you some more updates in the days ahead so I hope you’ll come back again soon.
I’m so happy you stopped by to visit – thanks for reading!

Julie your dining room is so beautiful! I love the birch centerpiece so special from your grandparents! The chandelier is gorgeous with the fresh greens! You did a fantastic job decorating it all feels so warm and welcoming!!
Julie, YOu have a beautiful dining room. I am in love with the blue china cabinet. The chalkboard is too cute. I have horrible penmanship and can never make my chalkboards look that good. Have a great weekend.
I love the rustic and cabin feel of your home!! Just beautiful! I love the birch centerpieces …and the chalkboard. It’s all just fabulous! (the blue cabinet is great too! 😉 )
Thanks so much for sharing!!

Julie, what a beautifully warm and inviting Christmas dining room you have created! I love your birch log centerpiece and its sentimental reminder of your grandparents and their lake house. You did a wonderful job! Enjoy it with your family.
Cheers
Beautiful Julie!! I love the Spode and that you AND your husband made the birch centerpiece! Thanks for sharing with us!
Julie, I love your dining room and it’s perfect at Christmas. My favorite is the log candles and they are special because of where they grew. Merry Christmas ~Jeanette
Your table and dining room look so pretty decked out for Christmas. I love your Christmas china pattern. My friend has it and moves her regular china out of her china press during December and replaces it with her Spode. I love seeing it when I visit her. I hope you enjoy the rest of this magical month!
What a gorgeous tablescape! So festive! Thank you for sharing with us! Have a wonderful weekend!
~Abby =)
Beautiful, Julie! So cosy and inviting.. and I swoon over that hutch every single time
I loved your dining room when you redid it and it’s even more beautiful all set for Christmas! Love the birch centerpiece and the sentiment behind it XO
I love my Christmas Spode! It was a tradition on my mom’s side of the family and always so fun to put out. We have tons of it. Where did you buy the beautiful woven chargers? My mom used to weave baskets and those just look like something she would have made out of grapevine.
Thank you for visiting, Ellen! The chargers are from World Market. How wonderful that your mother could weave baskets!
Thanks for the intel; I will have to make a stop on my way home!
The tablescape is so lovely and you certainly have accomplished the look of the rustic feel you were going for…and so glad to hear that the decorating is a “family affair”…love the birch centerpiece and so wonderful that the logs came from your grandparents house…so very special….
Julie your house looks gorgeous! So cozy and festive!
Absolutely stunning Julie! Although I am not surprised at all. I really like all of your spcial details. Your dining room is SO ready for Christmas.
Merry Christmas, my friend!
Julie, I absolutely love your tablescape. It’s pretty and elegant, but still casual. I love that you have that reminder of your grandparents lake house as your centerpiece..how lovely. And yes, I think eating by candlelight is extra special, too.
Beautiful tablescape Julie. I adore the story behind the centerpiece.
