For months I’ve been slowly adding more farmhouse charm to my kitchen and breakfast nook. And, as always, I try to do it on a budget.
So, when my friend, Angie from Knick of Time, asked me if I’d like to try a stencil from her new line of farmhouse stencil designs it was a no-brainer.
After all, her line is filled with great farmhouse designs and I knew they could be just the ticket to help me with an idea that was already brewing in my mind.
Contrary to my husband’s opinion, I think our home can always use a new pillow. And I was dreaming about adding a cute grain sack pillow to this space.
I chose this simple, perfectly farmhouse Milk and Cream Co. stencil for my pillow.
I used some fabric I already had (it was a remnant I purchased a long time ago for just a few dollars) and used a dark gray craft paint for the stencil. (I didn’t use fabric paint since I don’t plan to launder the pillow.)
On a hard, flat surface I taped the stencil to the fabric so it wouldn’t move while applying the paint. I used a round, flat stenciling brush and applied it by “tapping” the fabric with the brush so it’s unevenly applied.
When the paint dried, I quickly sewed it together, inserted the pillow form, stitched the opening and I was done. (I shared how I make my pillows in this post.)
I love how this pillow turned out and I adore this simple farmhouse design! It’s exactly what I had in mind for this space. Now if only I had a cute little window seat so I could have a zillion more pillows! haha
Angie’s stencils are reasonably priced and can be used over and over (I am working on another craft using the same stencil which I will share soon). You can see all of Angie’s stencils here.
I love projects that are simple, quick and turn out even better than I had hoped!
On a different note, my home is being featured over at Southern Hospitality today, so I’d love it if you would stop by and pay Rhoda a visit! Rhoda is a bHome blogger (just like me!) and is a talented decorator and is so sweet and kind! She really lives up to her blog name — so if you don’t know Rhoda already, you really need to visit her blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. My kiddos go back to school on Monday and I’ll be getting back in to a more regular blogging schedule.
Have a wonderful weekend!
**I was provided the Knick of Time stencil to use for my project but all opinions are entirely my own!
